Operations Manager

Position Summary: The Operations Manager has two key areas of responsibility: people and process. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations in multiple key areas of the business; they are also responsible for defining, implementing, and continually improving business processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage, supervise, mentor, and coach employees in the areas of responsibility.
  • Set individual and team performance goals and support teams and individuals to meet those goals.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of proactive problem solving, personal responsibility, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Work with employees to identify and implement new processes and process improvements where needed.
  • Define and implement (with Management team approval) a performance management policy.
  • For manufacturing, work with sales team, company management, and manufacturing team to set and achieve production goals.
  • For customer support, work with the team to establish processes enabling efficient, consistent and effective resolution of customer support calls resulting in high customer satisfaction and low error rate.
  • Define and display metrics showing progress toward goals. Some examples are: reject rate, on-time shipment, trouble ticket response times.
  • The Operations Manager will have hiring and performance management authority within these areas of the organization.

Required Experience / Job History:

  • 5+ years in an operations management position.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (precision electronics, low-med volume preferred).
  • Proven ability to set and meet productivity and quality goals in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading, managing, or supervising customer support teams with a history of improving performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks to direct reports, train them in the proper procedures, and ensure successful completion of those tasks
  • Comfortable working with Windows PCs, MS office, hosted software (Gmail, Google Sheets, DropBox, etc)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Experience:

  • 2 or 4 year college degree in Industrial engineering or other engineering field.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and continually improving lean manufacturing processes
  • Experience defining and implement QA policies and procedures
  • Experience establishing and scaling up customer support teams.

Compensation:

  • Salaried / exempt position

Product Development Engineer

Job Title: Product Development Engineer

Job Location: Greensboro, NC

Position Summary: The Product Development Engineer is responsible for successfully executing product development projects; from project conception through handover to the manufacturing team. The Product Development Engineer should leverage his or her broad experience and skills across multiple disciplines to ensure product development proceeds smoothly, is on schedule, on The Product Development Engineer is responsible for successfully executing product development projects; from project conception through handover to the manufacturing team. The Product Development Engineer should leverage his or her broad experience and skills across multiple disciplines to ensure product development proceeds smoothly, is on schedule, on budget, and delivers a high-quality product that meets our customer’s needs.

The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and self-directed to take high-level input and goals from company leadership, transform this into an actionable development roadmap, and execute to that roadmap without requiring close supervision. The successful candidate will be proficient at performing detailed design, development, and prototyping work across a range of disciplines; in other words, this is a hands-on position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with company leadership to define, spec, and prioritize new product development opportunities.
  • Work with Management to build a development timeline for product development opportunities.
  • Ensure that the needed resources are in place to meet product development goals. Where additional resources are needed, work with Management to identify and locate these resources.
  • Execute product development plans, including drafting product requirements, detailed design work, prototyping, testing, and handover to manufacturing.
  • Supply chain/sourcing: Locate and evaluate potential suppliers; evaluating samples; systems integration of these components.
  • Supplier/contractor relationships: Assume a lead role in working with outside vendors and contractors through the development process; hand relationships off to manufacturing team as part of product handover.
  • Work with manufacturing and customer support teams to integrate their feedback and input into continuous product improvement.
  • Utilize their existing and/or grow a network of subject matter experts who can be called upon as needed to assist the candidate, and the company, as needed.

Required Experience / Job History:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a product development or related position.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform design work, prototyping, and transitioning new products into manufacturing. A portfolio of past projects/products is strongly recommended.
  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
  • Mechanical engineering background, including motion systems and sheet metal design.
  • Electrical engineering background, including AC/DC power, PCB integration, ESD mitigation.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes including sheet metal, injection molding, 3D printing, machining, etc.
  • Experience with regulatory approvals process (FCC, UL, CE).
  • Experience with product testing, product reliability testing, including testing framework, plans, documentation.
  • Knowledge of design tools and frameworks such as DFMEA, Design for Manufacturing, etc.
  • Exposure to user interface (UI) design.
  • Familiarity with software, firmware, and embedded systems particularly motion control systems.
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient with CAD software such as Solidworks.
  • Comfortable working with Windows PCs, MS office including MS Project, hosted software (Gmail, Google Sheets, DropBox, etc).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Manufacturing Technician

Job Title: Manufacturing Technician

The Successful candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, experience with assembly, troubleshooting, test and repair of electromechanical systems. The position requires skill using hand and power tools in assembling complex systems which include motion controllers, motors, mechanical assemblies, electronics and wiring.

The successful candidate will also:

  • Possess the ability to work in team environments
  • Able to learn quickly
  • Able to accept feedback and encouragement from managers, team leaders and co-workers
  • Work well under pressure

Job Description: Job responsibilities include:

  • Assembling electromechanical systems which include PCBs, power supplies, stepper motors, housings, enclosures and associated assembly and wiring.
  • Configuring and verifying subassemblies and final product. Testing of subassemblies and products.
  • Documenting and correcting any problems or issues found during assembly or testing.
  • Troubleshooting in-process and product-level defects.
  • Identifying and implementing product & process improvements to improve quality and efficiency.

Compensation: Hourly (Overtime Eligible), based on education and experience
