3D Printing Heals: Fusion3 on the VA’s New Printed Casts

We were excited to see the recent announcement that the Atlanta VA is now offering 3D-printed casts and splints, becoming the first U.S. Veterans Health Care facility to adopt this approach. It’s powered by ActivArmor’s system, which largely runs on Fusion3 3D printers.

At Fusion3, we view this development as more than a milestone in medical care. It’s proof of concept for what’s possible when additive manufacturing enters mission-critical, patient-facing applications. By enabling in-house, customizable orthoses, systems like these reduce wait times, increase patient comfort, and push the boundaries of how 3D printing can truly become part of clinical workflows.

We congratulate ActivArmor and the Atlanta VA team on this bold step. Looking ahead, we remain committed to supporting medical users and researchers with reliable hardware, materials, and workflow insights to help scale these kinds of innovations across more health systems.
