FUSION3 SAMPLE PRINT GALLERY:

SMALL DETAILED OWL FIGURINE 3D PRINTED IN PLA

COMMENTARY:

Fusion3’s design mission for the F410 is to produce large parts, quickly (or produce many parts as part of a production run) using high-temperature, engineering-grade materials.

When designing a 3D printer, much like an automobile, you have to concentrate your resources and ‘tune’ the capabilities to specific strengths outcomes as its is difficult to excel at all outcomes.

The idea of printing a small figurine as the small owl you see here is not a normal use case for the F410, and frankly not really suited for an FFF/FDM 3D printer (better for SLA if it can meet the durability requirements).

That said, after a little bit of experimentation and tuning of settings, we were quite pleased to see the quality of this part at 50 micron layer heights.

We’ve since printed the same part at 20 microns, a slight improvement in quality, which goes to show that layer heights really aren’t the determining factor. It really comes down to the accuracy of the motion control system. The more accurate the system, the less you have to rely on thinner layers to create small details.
